Signing in uses a Google account. A Gmail address is one, but you can also create a Google account for an email address you already use (choose "Use your existing email" when asked).

Signing in shares only your email address with this site. Everything you enter about your finances stays in your own browser on your own device, unless you choose to save it to your own Google Drive, which goes straight from your browser to Google.
